Things I've Built: A Survey of Open Source, Side Projects, AI, and Creative Work

Abstract

Open source, side projects, AI experiments, and creative work. We present one featured result, a UI pattern library (Section 1), then survey ten open source repositories, thirteen side projects built with Claude Code, four AI projects, and three creative outlets.

1Featured result

Main Result (UI Pattern Library). Interface patterns lifted out of projects I actually shipped. Each one renders live in an isolated frame and comes with its markup, its styles, its behaviour, and the prompt that rebuilds it from scratch.

2.1Cottage UI

A React component library built alongside a YouTube tutorial series. Clean, reusable, well-tested code. React, TypeScript · 13 stars.

2.2cc-dash

A dashboard and Model Context Protocol server for a project portfolio whose entire state lives in markdown files. Twenty-five zod-typed MCP tools let Claude Code read roadmaps, advance sessions, and work QA queues without anyone opening the UI. No database: the files are the source of truth, and git is the audit log. TypeScript, Next.js, MCP, zod · 25 MCP tools · 1,667 tests · MIT.

2.3Skillbox

A collection of personal prompts and utility prompts packaged as SKILLs for Claude Code. Easily installable via npx. Claude Code, SKILLs.

2.4Photo Importer

Photo organization TUI with video sorting support. Organizes photos into year/month/date folders. Built a TUI around the original script for a better workflow. Python, TUI.

2.5Agent Compiler

A TUI for embedding skills into a CLAUDE.md file so Claude has a higher chance of picking them up. TUI, Claude Code.
